Who We Are
Christian Challenge is a ministry to the students at Western Colorado University. Our group is open to any person, regardless of spiritual background, who desires to learn about God, Jesus and the Bible. Our vision is to help students at Western to know, love and glorify God, relying on Him to raise up qualified disciple makers that will spread the gospel of Jesus Christ from Western to the ends of the earth. We do this through our weekly meetings, men's and women's Bible studies and one on one discipleship times. In addition, we believe that a strong Christian community is essential for spiritual maturity, deep friendships and healthy lives. Therefore, we have several fun activities every month. Some things we do include: movie nights, game nights, scavenger hunts, men's and women's events, attending on campus events together, spending time in Gunnison's great outdoors and sharing meals together.

We believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God. It was written by men and divinely inspired. Because of this, we believe it is completely true and trustworthy from Genesis to Revelation. The Bible tells about God, the sinful nature of mankind and God's plan to rescue us from the punishment our sins deserve. Everything we teach is based on the truth of scripture.

We believe that to be saved people must repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). We all have broken God's moral standard of perfection and therefore have earned God's punishment of death (Romans 6:23). To rescue us from the punishment we deserve, God sent his only Son Jesus to die in our place. Because he lived a sinless life, he was able to pay the penalty of death our sins deserved. He did this by shedding his blood and dying on the cross. Jesus proved his authority over death by raising himself back to life on the third day. Therefore, to be saved, you must repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus and his loving work for you on the cross. We are saved by grace through faith, not by any amount of good works we perform.
